A bottle of Campaign

Finally the weekend, and home sweet home.

I'm bushed, after today's softball training. Muscle aches incoming tomorrow. It sure wasn't easy alright. My throwing is absolutely disastrous now. But i'm getting back the feeling soon. And my fielding instincts are still there. Hopefully i can enjoy playing softball once more, this time at a casual, easy pace.

It's been a particularly long week, choked with sleepless nights and drowsy days. We spent hours of painstaking effort on our propaganda machine, toiled tirelessly at garnering support, and poured our hearts into the rally, into our speech. Our Party Action People (PAP)'s campaign for JCRC culminated in voting day on thurs night.. It was crazy fun, getting everyone's signatures on our boards, giving out our last limited edition Free Hugs, tossing out our heart-shaped balloons, and even going on our last bit of door-knocking together! We were probably the craziest, most attention-grabbing people of the election.

Well, it has really been a memorable time for all of us. Despite the voting results, the campaign will remain one of our cherished memories in Hall XI. We have gained so much, because we had the courage and passion to give it our very best. And now, as the dust settles, the entire horizon beckons to us.

My journey as Block 54 Manager begins here, too.

Tuesday Rally

The rally for JCRC candidates just ended! i think i did pretty ok for my speech, from everyone has been telling me. Felt incredibly nervous though. i need to get used to speaking before crowds. i do like what i said about international students though. In a uni like NTU with a huge foreign student pop., we really need to reach out individually and make friends with them. You can hardly do it any other way. i still remember how i just snuck into Wei man's room and asked if he played wei qi. It reminds me of Hikaru no go, how we won with a makeshift team :)

It's been tediously hectic these past few days, campaigning for JCRC. We prepared our campaign stuff and put up posters, went around doorknocking and giving out free hugs to everyone in hall. It's surprisingly more tiring than we thought! But it was very fun too, especially with Weichong, Ravi and Amreet supporting us all the way. No matter what the results may be, i'm pretty proud of our group and how cool we were all the way. i feel so fortunate that i'm not in the coalition now! Otherwise i wouldn't have had such an awesome time with Brandon, Lih Hern and Eugene.

For the first time in my life, i might not feel disappointed with what life has in stall for me... haha.

Thanks.

Fresh

The third week, and the start of our interblock games. My block 54 really kicks ass for the recreational games lol. We won snooker, scrabble, bridge so far. And i was part of the 3-guy team that won weiqi! Woots. It's been fun trying out all the things i've always wanted to do.

We played softball on sat morning. Yep. I still love the sport. The batting, throwing, catching. Awesome feeling of adrenaline and joy. Still, we lost to everyone lol. I gave so many walks as the pitcher! So sucky, haha. Yea but i think everyone had fun. Next time i'll do better as the team captain man.

I've been playing too much over this past week, with our scrabble and whatnot. Probably change gear after the election next week. Time to get double dean's list! Haha. I wonder how hard it'll be.

Sometimes i like the mundane. But it never feels satisfying enough.

What will make me fall in love with life?

Fused

Strangely, the second week has flitted by like a lost butterfly.

It's still very, very happening everywhere i go. There's the sprawling CCA Fest at the North Spire, a bazaar of clubs and activities. I signed up for a couple of them, while collecting the myriad free gifts offered. They really know how to entice us cheapskate students! Haha.

Got my laptop after queuing for 3 hours and missing my lecture. Yea but i got to know a new friend, Charlene. She was in front of me, so we just started talking throughout the long queue. Later Meirong joined in too and we had a pretty nice chat. The hours long queue didn't turn out as boring as it could have been, ha. Hope to see my new ex-stranger again.

I got to know the BCG guys better. They're really quite some amazing people. Like James, who's an entrepreneur. Kept knowing more and more of their friends, but i am lost with their names, sigh. Met so many familiar faces in campus, especially on the link between the North and South Spines! Hopefully i get to see my primary school friends too. Though i probably wouldn't recognise them.

Welcome Week back in Hall XI! Tuesday we went ice-skating. The rink wasn't as good as HK's, so i didn't like it that much. But everyone enjoyed themselves, fumbling and tripping with a laugh. Wednesday was movie night, but me and Weichong sneaked off to play basketball with LJ and Liheng... anyway the movie was sucky. We played with some China guys till the spotlights went dim. Thurs, the hall dinner buffet. There were songs and performances to keep the entertainment going. The night ended in Weichong's room, talking stuff with the guys.

I'm gonna run for block54 manager. Really like staying in hall, interacting with everyone, and simmering in the busy uni life. Perhaps one of these days i'll find out what i want.

P.s. can You answer the question i wrote in the survey?

University Life

My first week in school! It's been an easy, comfortable period so far. I count myself extremely lucky to have my block54 friends. Shaun, Alvin and Colin are awesome to hang out with, being awfully nice and friendly. It's been a blast to hang out with the other neighbours like Brandon, Raghu, Weichong, Luo Jun et al too. Girls... hmm Judy is the only one in our block, and Meirong yuan comes around sometimes. I think we need more girls in our poker card sessions haha. So hall life has been a cool breeze for me so far. Besides my roomie, who never seems to be around enough!

The modules seem ok and pretty manageable. Everything is going slowly, and sometimes i can't wait for things to happen. I added a core from next semester, Logic design, and hopefully i can cope with it. Looking forward to doing the arty-farty literary elective "INTRO TO MAGICAL REALISM" with Joowen and Qilin too.

Yea. Nothing much to complain about. Things couldn't be any more... normal.

That's life for now.
